Managing a session so the artist is comfortable and has what's needed at arms length to quickly achieve their goals. Room layout, microphone selection and placement, cue system planning, drum sounds... What makes a session a success?
various production techniques utilizing Waves plug-ins, Sound-Replacer, Reason 3.0 and more.

Production-
“Always in record”, discuss production methods that help the artist stay comfortable and perform their best in the studio. Learn editing between takes, how to build a successful lead vocal or guitar solo from multiple takes & tracks -  Discuss the business of production and the philosophy behind and the roles of producer, engineer, artist & label and some background into treading the gray areas in-between.

Studies are offered both on and off site, with college credit available in many cases.

  THE ART OF MIXING

Peter Denenberg - small group studies or private instruction

Learn mixing from a real mixer!

Technical-
Mixing in the box with Pro-Tools HD, featuring plug-ins from Waves, Digidesign, McDSP and more...
"How do they do it?"- from: "what is a compressor anyway" to sound replacer and psycho-acoustics.
When and how to stop and fix things, when loud is bad and when loud is good, studies in re-amping, sound replacer, etc.

Philosophical-
“Understanding where a song is coming from on a case by case basis, learning to mix with the music’s best interest in mind”. How to understand what “vibe” works for a particular project and how to work towards that goal without becoming sidetracked or losing focus… How to communicate with an artist and producer so everyone remains on the same page. Discussions of the politics that can be involved both creatively and on a business level.

Studies are offered both on and off site, with college credit available in many cases.
